I was very excited about Ashlee's first Halloween. We had a very fun day planned: a neighborhood party and then time with family. We were quite discouraged, though, when it was cold and rainy all day. We decided to go to the party, which was outside, when the rain let up. But while we were there, it started to pour! We did have fun though. After, we went over to Scott's brother's house and saw our nieces and nephews dressed up. Ashlee even dressed up as the cutest bumblebee ever!

Smiles
Ashlee has grown so much. It's hard to believe she is already over two months old! It is very hard to catch her smiling with the camera. She smiles all the time but as soon as I pull out the camera and she sees it she stops smiling and stares at the camera like it is the most interesting thing in the world. I'm glad I was able to get these!

Playtime
Ashlee is now over seven weeks old. That means that she will be two months old next week. I can't believe how quickly she is growing. Today she weighs 10 lbs! We actually bought a scale so that we can weigh her whenever we want. Since we had so much trouble with her gaining weight in the early weeks, we stress about it so much still. I don't know why we do because she is gaining just fine. Some milestones are: smiling, cooing, holding her head up fairly well when held in an upright position, and lifting her head up when she is on her tummy. The following pictures I took today while we had some playtime. I tried to catch her smiling but by the time I grabbed the camera the smile had disappeared. Maybe next time.

Ashlee is here!
Ashlee was born seventeen days ago. They induced me a week early because of high blood pressure. After two hours of pushing and the help of forceps, Ashlee was finally in our arms. Here is a picture of her pretty soon after delivery.

A picture of me holding her. I guess I don't look that bad considering.

This picture is after she was taken later after she was cleaned and examined at the nursery.

This was right before we took her home from the hospital.

At home the next day. She loves her hands!

This is the most recent picture taken last weekend when she finally was awake long enough to get a picture with her eyes open.

Nursery
This view is looking into the room from the hallway. All of the furniture is used. We got the crib from Scott's brother Aaron. We got both the glider and the changing table from KSL. The little table in the corner with the lamp on it used to be our entertainment center in our living room until we upgraded. I actually made the curtains myself. It is hard to see because of the sunlight, but they are a solid lilac/lavender color. We put the quilt that came with the bedding set on the wall behind the crib.
The quilt draping on the front of the crib was made by Grandma Lloyd (Scott's mom). The solid purple parts and edging is made from minky, which is very soft. Though the crib is set up and ready, baby Ashlee will be sleeping in a bassinet (which we got for only $20!) in our bedroom for a little while.
Ashlee's name and the butterflies on the wall are made out of wood that we painted. This was an inexpensive alternative since we rent and cannot paint or put up wallpaper.
This changing table was only $50 on KSL. What a steal! At Baby's R Us we saw the same one for over $200. The umbrella hanging in the corner we have had for a while and thought it might look cute in this room. The flower hooks on the wall are made out of wood and we painted them. I think this wall still looks a bit empty. I might put up a shelf or a cute picture when I find it. If I do I will be sure to update this picture.

The first entry
So I have been told I need to have a blog by several friends. I am not very good at these things but I figured I would give it a try. Any ideas or requests for future entries are very welcome! More to come.
